We are all opportunists. This brain function helps us to survive. Fish, animals and birds have this same trait in common. It usually goes hand in hand with satisfying a hunger. When taken to an extreme it can lead to war and genocide. And in between those extremes are all kinds of shades of gray.
Life pretty much boils down to how we live and what we take personal responsibility for and then how we learn and grow. There have always been people who want to sit on a throne, control the world and dominate the masses through violence and fear.
There have been quite a few people who have been making tons of money, with little or no regard for what they are doing; who they are hurting or how much their actions may be contributing to the depletion of our natural resources. Whether they are co-conspirators or opportunists whose interpretations of relative ethics are seriously flawed, who knows. But these coincidences are very interesting.
